Barely-there makeup and fresh faces are still in for Spring 2018 – as showcased on set for TOME NYC at #NYFW and designers Marta Jakubowski and Jamie Wei Huang at #LFW.
About the shows:
TOME, New York Fashion Week
The Spring/Summer 2018 collection is inspired by NYC based dancer and choreographer Pam Tanowitz. Her work deconstructs and reconstructs the tropes of classical ballet and dance in a postmodern approach to the craft. This season shows the deconstructed colors of the rainbow with pleating and print, representing a retrospective of ideas for both Pam Tanowitz, Dance and TOME.
Thus, the SS18 show was not a traditional runway show as it had been in previous seasons. It presented a new vision for dance, music and fashion during a free-flowing presentation where dancers, dressed in the Spring 18 collection performed ‘on loop’ – guests were invited into the space in small groups, to witness the dance and fashion fusion, each moment a unique vignette of beauty.
The beauty look, led by MAC makeup artist Nicole Thompson, was fresh clean skin, with barely there makeup, and undone hair styled by Aveda’s Antoinette Beenders.
Jamie Wei Wang, London Fashion Week
Jamie Wei Huang is a contemporary womenswear label, founded by Jamie Wei Huang after graduating from Fashion Design Womenswear at Central Saint Martins College in London. The brand continues Jamie Wei Huang’s strong belief in seeking self-expression through fabrication and materials staying true to her signature style of strong elongated silhouettes, constructed with careful juxtaposition of fabrics catering for contemporary individuals.
For the beauty look the makeup artists, led by Kamila Forini, known for her editorial work, blushed cheeks to reflect the flushed color they’d turn after being in the wind and wet air, with sheeny cheekbones, glossy and taupe eyes, pared down eyebrows, natural lips and drawn on freckles. The canvas for the makeup was beautiful, clean and dewy skin using the Arctic Face Oil and Antidote Cooling Daily Lotion.
Lucy Bridge is a MUA known for her edgy work, she regularly takes part in fashion weeks and editorial shoots. She was the MUA on set for the Marta Jakubowski show. Marta Jakubowski was born in Poland and grew up in Germany. She graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2014 and gained experience with Hussein Chalayan, Alexander Wang, Jonathan Saunders and Bruno Pieters before setting up her own label.
