Inside New York Fashion Week
with Caroline Vazzana

For S/S 2018 we tagged along with @cvazzana, stylist, creative director and author of Making it in Manhattan

  • 1. What is your favorite part about fashion week?

I love being able to see the newest trends and collections in person. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a fashion show and being able to see the movement and textures of the clothing in person! I also love that fashion Week is a mini reunion, it’s a time to reconnect with your friends in the industry and also meet new ones!
  • Who is your fashion designer that you look forward to seeing each season?

  • In New York, I always love seeing Nicole Miller, Christian Siriano and Cynthia Rowley! They always show such amazing collections and are also all personal friends who wrote endorsements for my book, “Making it in Manhattan!”
  • Living in New York and running around for fashion week can get stressful, how do you manage your stress?

I think it’s so important to take time for yourself whenever possible. It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and excitement, but as often as possible taking time to meet with a friend or if you need a night off, so it! Your physical and mental health will thank you for it!
  • Are there any go-to products that help you stay cool, calm and collected?

I seriously always use the skyn ICELAND eye gels before any big event, and NYFW is no different! I use these every night leading up to fashion week and then during the excitement, especially when I’m tired these are my go to!
  • What is a piece of advice you have for people looking to break into the fashion week scene?

I think building relationships with brands outside of the craziness of fashion week is so important so then when showtime does come around you can seamlessly work together! If you’re young and just looking to get your foot in the door with it all, interning for fashion week or assisting an editor or blogger is a great way to get involved! I touch on this and so much more in my book!
  • Any other fun tips on prepping for fashion week?

I always make sure to plan out my looks a week or so before so that I’m not scrambling the day of! This makes things so easy! And at the end of the day, just have fun! Fashion Week is a time so many of us dream of attending and being part of so in the midst of all the stress just try to remember to enjoy it all!
