Michelle Luhan Nordberg, is a registered dietitian with a private practice in New York City. She received a Master’s degree in Food Science and Clinical Nutrition from New York University and completed her clinical practice at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Prior to going into private practice, Michelle worked as an out-patient nutritionist at Beth Israel Medical Center and as an in-patient nutritionist at New York University Medical Center.
Michelle currently serves as a nutrition consultant to patients at Beth Israel’s Center for Cardiac and Pulmonary Health, where she headed the nutrition services for 5 years. Michelle also continues to work with local businesses, lecturing and developing wellness programs. She has worked with clients such as GE, Pfizer, Science America, Elite Modeling Agency, and the Bronx Public Library. She’s has also lectured at medical conferences, has been quoted in popular women’s magazines, and has been seen on the local news reporting on the latest nutritional findings.
Raised in a European household, her father a surgeon and her mother a restaurateur, Michelle’s affinity for nutrition comes to no surprise. Cooking is a big part of her passion and the ultimate means to a healthy diet. Not only is she an avid cook, enthusiastic entertainer and world traveler — but a mother of two who doesn’t believe in “picky eaters”. You serve “healthy” food in the house and your children will learn to like it. Michelle’s new venture includes programs to ensure healthy eating in the house by visiting people’s kitchens and removing unhealthy foods from the pantry and refrigerator, and then suggesting healthier alternatives.
Michelle is a strong believer in the health benefits of traditional diets such as the Mediterranean and Asian diets. She is an advocate for unadulturated foods, “real” food and a believes many of the US’s health woes, (such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and chronic stress) stem from our over-consumption of nutritionally-devoid, processed foods.
Michelle is an active member of the Greater New York Dietetic Association, the American Dietetic Association, and the International Center for Culinary Professionals. She is a licensed nutritionist in the state of New York.
